About

The goal of this project is to serve as a blog/journal to give my son a link to in 2044. I know you probably have some questions for me and I'm going to attempt to proactively answer them.

Why 2044?

At that point, he will be 25 years old. He will be able to see and understand what was going on in the lives of his parents (as well as the world) with the perspective of adulthood.

Wouldn't it mean more as a stack of handwritten journals?

Sure, probably so. But my hands cramp quickly, I type faster than I write, I can guarantee this will be legible, and btw - I'm a software engineer so I like this medium better.

Why make these posts public?

Remember PostSecret? If not, here's a link. What was it that made that project so cool? I think it was the anonymity allowing people to be completely honest in relatable, yet embarrassing ways. I have to imagine it's extremely cathartic to be so exposed but not in a way that feels "dangerous" or something. I guess I'm looking to get something out of this too.

If you're a software engineer, why does this site look the way it does...?

I miss a time when the internet was fun. It used to just be a collective of passion projects and you'd find interesting things everywhere. The internet has become corporate, sanitized, and stale. I don't want this project to have some crazy, highly polished look or feel. Also, please feel free to check out either of these websites: JustUseHTML, MFWebsite
